Why we started
The social and health consequences of obesity are significant.
It is widely acknowledged that overweight and obesity are not caused by a single factor.
Our environment has an effect on our wellbeing as well as obesity.
The term ‘Obesogenic Environment’ relates to the influences that contribute towards obesity, such as our surroundings, opportunities or life conditions.
These include:
The North East Obesogenic Environment Network (NEOeN) has been established to identify opportunities for collaborative work across multi-disciplinary sectors within practice and academia as well as including work with communities.
NEOeN will enable cross-sectoral working partnerships and will contribute towards addressing obesity and wellbeing.
NEOeN is facilitated by a steering group who operate to a terms of reference.
